The property - a 20-minute walk from McIlroy's local Holywood Golf Club - has gone on the market and the agent in charge of selling it says interest has been fierce.
'This was the home he was brought up in. If you have seen the pictures of him chipping balls into the washing machine, that was in this house,' John Minnis told the Belfast Telegraph.
'It's a great property in a great location and no matter who it was, it will sell.'
McIlroy's father Gerry - at one time a scratch golfer himself - made the modifications to the house to ensure his son had the best platform possible to his golfing career.
The backyard putting green features four holes and has also been floodlit
It boasts a gorgeous view over Belfast Lough and has been on the market for several weeks
The floodlit putting surface in the back yard is well manicured and features four separates holes, while the hitting studio is equipped with space to conduct video analysis of a golfer's swing.
Oh, and there are four bedrooms, double glazing and a view of Belfast Lough to boot.
McIlroy, now based in Florida, later moved to a five-bedroom home near Moneyreagh in County Down. This house has since been sold.
