West Ham Pitch Invader One Of Three Arrests From Chelsea Clash

West Ham Pitch Invader One Of Three Arrests From Chelsea Clash Met Police has thanked West Ham and Chelsea fans for their support on Monday night

A pitch invader was among three arrests made at Monday night's Premier League clash between West Ham and Chelsea.

The Metropolitan Police put a "robust" security plan in place for the match at the London Stadium in the wake of ugly scenes at the EFL Cup fourth-round tie between the two sides in October.

There was trouble inside and outside the ground before that game, with coins and other missiles being thrown as tensions boiled over as the final whistle approached.

Monday night's game, which ended in a 2-1 Chelsea win, was not completely free of trouble, with the main flash point seeing a supporter confront Chelsea forward Eden Hazard near the touchline after he scored the opening goal.

The pitch invader was held back by stadium security guards and marched out of the stadium before being one of the three arrests made.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the other arrests were for assault, and setting off a firework or flare.

But both sets of fans were thanked for their "fantastic support" by the Met Police on Twitter, where they reported there had been no other major security issues.
