2018 Maritime Cup starts

Eight teams are to participate in the 2018 Maritime Cup football competition starting  at the NPA Sports Ground in Lagos on Tuesday with Nigeria Customs Service taking on  Certified Institute of Shipping in the opening match.

According to the organisers, the Nigerian Navy, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Apapa Bulk Terminal Limited and Josephdam Port Services are in Group A, while the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Ports Authority, Tin can Island Container Terminal and CIS are in Group B.

Coordinator of the competition, Eucharia Okoli, said winners would go home with N500,000 while the first and second runners-up win N300,000 and N200,000 respectively.

Former chairman, Lagos State Referees Council, Adesegun Kosoko, advised the participating teams to see the competition as an avenue for leisure and to build friendship outside their various business environments. Ships & Ports Communications Company is sponsoring the competition.
